Training courses for 2018-19 at Blackpool Research School
00:00 on 1 January 1970
Our training courses for next year are based around common themes that have come up through our discussions with teachers and leaders from across our local area. We have held our prices for 2018-19 at £295 for 3-day courses, and £345 for 4-day courses, which represents excellent value for money when compared with other providers.
All of our training is based upon the evidence-informed principle that CPD is more effective when delivered across multiple sessions spread across a minimum of two terms. This model has been shown to be far more likely to lead to long term change than the ‘one-off’ events that many training providers offer. We use the EEF Implementation guidance report in all of our training to give delegates the best possible chance of implementing the ideas within their own school context.
All training is supported by the Research Schools network and endorsed by the Education Endowment Foundation.
Our training programmes for next year (with links to booking) are listed below:
Developing metacognition and memory (4-day programme)
Developing pupils’ memory has always been important, but is increasingly in the spotlight due to the additional content now present at Key Stage 2, and in GCSEs and A-levels. The recently released EEF guidance report on Metacognition looks at a number of recommendations for developing this in pupils, which evidence shows us can have a very high impact on student outcomes.

Improving Science teaching (3-day programme)
EEF will soon publish their first guidance report looking at Science teaching, with a series of clear, actionable recommendations for improving pupils’ outcomes. We are in the unique position of having our course led by one of the EEF panel who developed the report, and who will lead you through the evidence before looking at ways of implementing change within your own context.

Effective use of the Pupil Premium fund (FREE twilight course)
This programme will address the following points:
How can we best use data to define challenges and drive decisions about how to spend the Pupil Premium?
How can we use evidence effectively to tackle defined challenges?
What does evidence tell us about delivering and sustaining quality first teaching?
What do we want to happen and how will we really know if we’re on track and ultimately successful?
How can we best gather evidence about the effectiveness of Pupil Premium provision in our own, and other schools?
We are very pleased to offer this course, which will take place as a series of twilight sessions across the year, FREE to all schools. Places are limited and will sell out fast!
